Tree Trimming

Ethan missed! Watch out for falling stars!

No big trees for us this year. We're keeping it small in case some potential buyers come to see the house. We want them to focus on the home not the decorations. So, here are the kids decorating our tree with Caleb this year, his first time decorating and undecorating it. Between Molly the cat and Caleb the toddler, I'm amazed I have any ribbon or ornaments left. We've already had broken ornaments, unwrapped presents, and torn ribbon.

One morning, I decided to take down all my greenery and ribbon off the stair railings. I just couldn't keep it on between that cat and that boy. When Ethan awoke, he came to me with the most discouraged, disheartened look on his face. He then asked me if we missed Christmas. He thought that since I had taken the decorations off the stairs, that Christmas was over. He's too cute, isn't he?

December Snow Day

Knoxville did get a little bit of snow last weekend. Caleb was a little confused by it. We kept having to tell him what it was. It was the first time he'd ever noticed. My two adventurous ones (Ethan and Hannah) played in the snow hard until it melted by lunchtime. Then, they came in for some yummy hot chocolate with marshmallows on top to warm them up.

The funniest part about the snow was my children's confusion. They kept asking me why we weren't opening up our Christmas presents. They thought that since it had snowed it MUST be Christmas Day! So we just HAD to open our presents. We didn't even have our tree last weekend much less all my shopping done. But they kept insisting that it was Christmas Day. Gotta love my little Hills.

Holiday Decorations

Did I ever tell you how much I LOVE to decorate my house for holidays? Well, I really do. This past spring, I purchased one of those little garden flag holders at a nursery. Along with it, I bought a spring, summer, autumn, Valentine's Day, and Thanksgiving Day flag. Winter and Christmas weren't in stock yet, but no worries, I plan to buy those too. I put up my turkey flag this week and my Thanksgiving felt banner on the fireplace. I posted about that last year, remember?

Here's my little turkey flag that I put in my front bed. Isn't it cute? And here's last year's picture of my Thanksgiving banner that I made.
