A Guns and Dolls Christmas

I'll be posting more Christmas pictures soon but for now enjoy this picture of the boys as they embark on their 1st air soft gun battle. I realized that this year was a "guns and dolls" Christmas for the kids. The big boys received their first air soft guns. Caleb received two play guns to pretend he's one of the big boys and Hannah even received a girly pink cowboy gun to defend herself from all the boys with all their guns. Mostly she had a "dolls" Christmas though, American Girl Doll to be exact. She received the doll and tons of clothes for her doll that she named Elizabeth. Check back soon. I'll have those pictures up over the weekend. Right now I am up to my ears in doing laundry, putting away Christmas decorations and cleaning the house after our Christmas trip to Smyrna and Germantown.

My Christmas window boxes

I LOVE my window boxes, just in case you didn't know. I love decorating them for each season. This year I decided to fill them with huge colorful ornaments. I had filled them with with mums, pumpkins,and gourds for fall and liked the way they looked so I branched out with ornaments for Christmas. I like it! The greenery was free from the nursery where we bought our live Christmas tree. Gotta love that. I still think they are missing something. Any suggestions?

Here are the new decorations for the mailbox and a kid friendly snowman flag for the front bed. Notice the roses are STILL BLOOMING! Yes, it's December and we had snow yesterday but my roses are still looking strong.

Christmas Decor at the Hills

Since the extended family never gets to see my home dressed up for Christmas I decided to show you a few of my outdoor Christmas decorations that I love. I really, really, REALLY like to decorate my home and try not to go overboard at Christmas.

I got some new things at JoAnn's Craft Store's 60% off sale last weekend thanks to my sweet hubby who surprised me with some spending money to use on whatever I pleased. JoAnn's sucked me in. All their Christmas decorations were 60% off before CHristmas! I had a hard time deciding what to put in my shopping cart and what I could pass on. My favorite additions to my Christmas decor this year are the new Christmas ornaments in my window boxes. I also purchased this cute snowman for the door. He's a little shorter than Caleb and too sweet. I needed a little whimsy for the kids to enjoy too.

I know that every year I'll add a little more to the mix and probably take some away. I'm far from a packrat and will never have a Griswold home but I like the way it is right now.
