Snow cream

With the snow last week, I tailored school a little differently that day. We made snow cream and snow cones for the first time! Reviews were poor. We just didn't like them all that much. Too bland.

My biggest challenge was to come up with a comparable substitute for Caleb. He couldn't eat the snow cream with the milk in it. Jason came to the rescue and made a flavored snow cone for him. He are it up and wanted more.

I don't think I'll make snow cream again but at least we all can said we made it and ate it at least once in our lives.

Snow day

Finally, we had a snow day. It rained for 5 straight days flooding our city, then the temps finally dropped and brought us snow and ice. Schools were even let out early Thursday and closed Friday for a 4 day weekend. You can just feel the excitement in the air.

Hill Academy was still in session on Friday though because we took off on Tuesday for Caleb's birthday. I wasn't a completely mean teacher. We tailored the curriculum to learn about snow, make snow cream, and make snowflakes after getting our language arts, math, history and science done.

It was an overall great school day. My favorites are the ones where they are happy and learning at the same time while having fun as well.
