We're home, very tired (due to waking up at 5:15am after going to bed around midnight) and getting lots of rest and TLC. Ethan was such a trooper. Ethan and I arrived at the hospital around 5:50am. We sat in the car for 10 minutes waiting for the outpatient facility to open. And those minutes of "sleepy" talking with Ethan sitting in my lap are now a treasured memory.
The procedure lasted longer than anticipated. We arrived home close to 10am. Dr. Mysinger placed two silver crowns on teeth and filled 3 other little cavities. He also sealed the other molars so that Ethan would not develop cavities on them. The little cavities were between teeth and very small where a toothbrush or floss might not have been able to reach. The cause is still unknown. After Andrew having this same procedure done almost two years ago, our dental hygiene has been extremely rigid with the boys. We were very saddened to learn that Ethan would have to endure this too, as well as our pocketbooks again. Having outpatient dental work performed with anesthesia and no dental insurance is not easy on the wallet. But we are not without hope, we know God is sovereign.
Ethan's mouth is not swollen, his nose has a little bloody scratch on it from the anesthesia tube, and he has a little bruise on his hand from the IV. But overall, he is doing well, eating like a champ this afternoon and starting to mess with Hannah again. Jason and I gave him a new toy, a Curious George in a moveable airplane. You can pull it back to wind it up and let it run forward across the floor with it's front propeller spinning. All 3 kids love it already!
Ethan's actually sitting in my lap right now about to fall asleep at 4pm, so I'm going to go lay him down. I'll post again another day. Thanks for the prayers.
