My new name

On Saturday Andrew declared to me that he would no longer be calling me Mommy but now Mom. He said that only little boys call their Moms "Mommy." Then he said that he would also stop calling Jason "Daddy" but start calling him Dad. Surprisingly, he actually called me Mom about 95% of the time yesterday. It saddens me that my little boy is not so little any more. But Ethan quickly responded by saying that he's sticking with the old names for us and will do so for a while.

I discovered the reason for the name change, Jimmy Neutron. It's a cartoon on Nickolodeon. Jimmy is a 4th grader who's a genius. Andrew's watching one of his videos now and said that since Jimmy calls his mom "Mom" he wanted to as well because he wanted to be just like Jimmy.

When we lived in Mississippi, we noticed that most all of the adults still called their mom "momma," even though they were grown up. Call me crazy, but I always loved that! So, my kids all call me "Momma." I would hate to give that up, but I guess our kids all have to grow up sometime.
