We did it! We completed out first ever Tennessee Summer Reading Program and received our prizes today. The best prize to us is a free child's ticket to ride Knoxville's Three Rivers Rambler train. One day soon we'll get to take the boys on "the ride of a lifetime." They've been looking forward to this since June 1, the first day of the reading program. Since they are not "readers" and only "listeners" they only had to listen to 20 books being read to them. They would have completed it the first day of the program if I hadn't figured out their 5 and 3 year old mentality. You see, they thought that if we read our 20 books first thing in the morning on June 1, then went to the library to pick up the train tickets, they'd get to ride the train that night. Good thing I asked a lot of questions and discovered the reason for the rush. The next discovery was that the prizes were not given out until July 1. This was the boy's second disappointment. Followed closely by their third which was that we'd be on vacation the first day that the prizes were given out. So I promised them that I'd take them to the library the first day back home which is today. They are very excited to eat free ice cream, go bowling, play putt-putt, go swimming and play karate, but it doesn't hold a candle to a train ride. They cannot wait until this weekend to ride The Rambler.

Wow! We're completing Ben's tomorrow and getting our "rewards." (The kids call them prizes!) I didn't know we get train tickets! That's cool.
