A yearly tradition that we started with the kids is called the "tree trimming party." We put Christmas music on the stereo, sip hot chocolate with marshmallows on top, eat holiday cookies that we make that afternoon and decorate our tree at night. It's been a great way to make memories with a tradition that we love. Each year, one child gets to put the tree on top. This year was Ethan's turn. But in an unchararacteristic fashion, Ethan was gravely afraid of falling into the tree when Jason lifted him up. So much so, that he couldn't do it. So we let Hannah try. Jason gave her the star, told her to put it on top, showed her where to place it, then hoisted her high in the air. She looked like she was a flying angel and we all laughed and laughed because she just wouldn't let go of the star. She just wanted to hold on to it. But with a little help from her Daddy, the star finally rested on top of the tree.
