AMSE Field Trip

Since the children are all better I decided it was time to take another field trip. This time we went to Oak Ridge's American Museum of Science and Energy. After all, science is Andrew's favorite subject. It was great! First of all, it was cheap. The kids went free and it only cost me $5.00 to get in, that's without any coupons or discounts. As soon as I walked in the door with kids in tow, I was kindly greeted by lots of employees. After taking off our winter coats, the employee at the information desk asked if he could take our coats and leave them beside him at the desk as we visited. Then another man came up and gave us coins for a game for the kids to ride. Next, came a man telling me where the elevator was, then lastly we were escorted by still another man to the freight elevator. Needless to say, I felt very cared for by these employees. By the way, they were all gentlemen and old enough to be my grandfather.

The museum is a little gem for our area. All three kids loved it. They have a traveling exhibit there now called "It's a Nano World, Come Discover It." There was this one room that had all these miscoscopes, magnifying glasses, interactive games, movies and such to teach kids how things are made up of a million small things. The kids absolute favorite was the tent filled with red plastic balls. It was to teach about blood. It was supposed to be like a big red drop of blood filled with the red blood cells. The kids had to search for the white blood cells that were hidden amongst the red. We only found two, and they were white fluffy bath sponges. Very cute! There was so much to do and see. If ever in Oak Ridge with your kids, this is a great place to go to. For the school aged kids down to the toddlers age, I highly recommend it.
