From Smyrna, the kids and I headed over to Memphis (Germantown) for a week's visit to introduce Caleb to the Manuel's. It was a long overdue visit especially since Caleb's now 4 months old and was just meeting his great grandmother, grandfather, aunts, uncles, and cousins for the first time. Unfortunately the kids all got sick with a stomach bug and the family had to stay away until they were better. So we watched A LOT of tv and visited with Grandmother and GrandBobby. Poor things, they were stuck with us! But by God's grace, we didn't spread it to anybody else, just Andrew, Ethan, and Hannah experienced the joys of that week long junk. The kids were very sweet though and didn't complain about not playing every waking moment with their cousins or swimming every day in the pool.
By our 4th day of tv watching, GrandBobby decided to splurge on us and buy the kids a Wii. They were so excited! They were doing cheers in the kitchen, "We're getting a Wii, we're getting a Wii!" But the sweetest moment was when they realized that the gaming system was theirs to keep. They just thought that GrandBobby was buying it for us to play with while we visit. They didn't understand that we would get to take it home. It's been so much fun to play with! We just love it and are very sore in the arms from throwing jabs to knock 'em out in boxing, serving a super fast serve in tennis, and trying to strike them out in baseball. We're hooked! We played often and are trying to outscore our high scores and each other. It's been great family fun. Hannah's just now getting the hang of it. It's a little hard for her to learn how to do some of the games but she just now learned how to box today. She boxed for so many rounds that her arms were sore. She was letting them just hang limp down by her sides. It made the boys just yell even louder at her trying her to get her to continue punching and jabbing in the final round because she was almost knocked out. It was too cute to see. While in Germantown, she actually fell asleep with the Wii remote strap on her arm. It happened to be on the hand that she sucks her thumb on. We tried to get her thumb out of her mouth but it was in there so good it was like crazy glue. She wouldn't let go, so we left her alone for hours as she slept on the living room couch.
THANKS GrandBobby for the Wii! We love you!
