Hannah's 1st Ballet Class

Hannah joined a ballet class that meets every Tuesday morning at church. Today was our first day! This class is for 3-5 year old girls. The girls are all so adorable. We were a little concerned about her enjoying it though. She cried and cried all morning after I put her in her dress and pulled her hair back. She just didn't want to "be a ballerina" she told me. After seeing all the other girls in their attire with their hair pulled back, she settled in to it. She really loved it, which I am so thankful about. We are trying to instill femininity in her and thought ballet would help her to enjoy more girly things. Especially since she's overrun by boy games, toys and activities around here. She loves to play ANYTHING that her two big brothers play. She's the medic when they play war, can make a monster truck show look great, and can give the boys a run for their money. She even went dove hunting with all the boys on Labor Day. No, Jason didn't let her shoot the gun of course, but she sat with Ethan in the dirt and played with cars and dump trucks. She came home totally exhausted but we could tell she loved every minute of the day. So I was very encouraged to see my baby girl who's becoming a little tomboy in a ballerina dress, tights and ballet slippers. She came home telling us all about her steps that she learned. Here's a cute picture of her being a "flamingo." She's the little one on the right side of the teacher, turned sideways. Don't laugh at her slippers. We couldn't find any that were even close to her size, she's still in a toddler shoe. These are three sizes too big and yes it does look like clown shoes.

Not to downplay the whole "feminity" stuff, but being a tomboy is really great, too, you know. If God intends for her to get married, she and her hubby will have so much fun together. I used to be really "girly" and hated sports and anything else that required getting dirty. Over the past 3-4 years, I've really fallen in love with "boy" stuff and Aaron and I have never had more fun together.
