Our Annual July Memphis Trip

Like every past summer, the kids and I have headed to Memphis to see the extended Manuel family for as long as I can remember. It's a perfect time to visit. My mom and brother and all the cousins are out of school, the pool is open and it's a perfect opportunity to spend some quality time together.

This year's trip was spent the same we always do, in the pool. Because we don't belong to a neighborhood pool, the kids want to spent every waking moment in my parents' backyard pool, and we do. The highlight of this year's trip was a day trip to Sardis Lake, MS to spend on my parents' boat playing with their new jet ski and riding the inner tubes. They all had a blast! We swam, ate, played in the Mississippi mud and chased Caleb around all day. Boy, was I beat!

Andrew learned how to swim, again. He had forgotten since last summer's trip. By the end of the week, he was swimming (doggy style) around the deep end and jumping in from the side in to the deep end of the pool. Caleb loved the water too. He would try to jump in to my arms from the side but it ended up being a slow lean and fall. Hannah was more comfortable this year in the pool. She'd get on her two arm swimmers and an inner tube and swim and kick all over the pool and Ethan would do the same. We loved spending every day with the cousins and celebrating my niece Adrienne's 21st birthday with her. We can't wait til next year!
