13.1

I used to see bumper stickers on cars that read 13.1. Honestly, I never really knew what it was 'til now. It's the official mileage of a half-marathon. One such daunting task that I signed myself up for to complete March 28, 2010.

I've never been a runner. Actually, I've hated running ever since gymnastics. We used to have two hour practices, then hundreds of crunches and calf raises to do, then the coaches would send us out to run. I was always one of the last few girls to finish.

So why would I sign myself up to do this? Two reasons, one to loose weight and the second was too much "Biggest Loser" show. I was motivated by those contestants who loose hundreds of pounds and then complete half and full marathons when they still have more weight to loose.

My training started January 4. My long run days are Saturdays. I started with 3 miles and am now at 7 as of today. 7!!!!! I ran 7 miles today! Whoohoo! Now every Saturday til race day I add another mile to the leg. The longest I'll run before race day is 12.

Now, all I'm needing are some cheerleaders. I'll have 5 cheering me on. I guess I need to go buy them a cowbell like all the other families have for their runners. Any other takers want to come over for a visit and cheer me on?! You're welcome to come.
