Starting new traditions are always fun to do. To think of things to do with your loved ones that might last through many generations is a daunting task. So with much thought and deliberation, we attempted to start our own family traditions this year. This was our first Christmas since being married that Jason and I stayed home in Knoxville for Christmas eve and day. First, we went to our Christmas eve service at church then went home to start the festivities. Jason built a big fire, then we roasted marshmallows, drank hot chocolate, then let the kids open one present. It was a present that would bring the whole family together. The boys received a giant floor puzzle that we all worked on. Here are pictures of the night and one of the boys before unwrapping. See the excitement? It was a memorable night. Watching the rain and listening to Andrew pray for snow instead is a memory that I hope to always have.

Snow... :) Ben has been so confused as he thinks Christmas means snow! He kept saying, "Mom, it's gonna SNOW tomorrow...!!!" We just keep replying "Ben, we are so sorry, but you live in the south." Great traditions, Shelley!
Desiree,
I must be the age thing. When I explained to him that it mostly snows in the north, not in the south, he asked to move to the north. After a lenghty conversation about all the people and things that we would miss if we moved, he still wanted to go where it snows. :)
There's always that kid in all of us when it snows on Christmas. This year I looked out the window at my brother's house on Christmas day, and it was flurring outside!
