GrandMommy's New Step

While in Smyrna this past weekend, Jason's mom Cindy decided to get all the grandchildren's hand imprint in a new step she made off the back patio. Cindy, Jason, and Andrew all put in some elbow grease by digging out the dirt where the step would go. Then Jason and Cindy mixed up the concrete, poured it and the kids pushed their hands in the concrete. Sounds easy enough right? Well, throw in a sleepy and cranky one year old. Little Hannah Claire was not cooperative at all. She was fearful leaning over in Mommy's arms while Daddy grabbed her hands and placed them in goop. We never got a good handprint so we resorted to pushing her feet in the ground. Jason tried to rinse her off with the garden hose. Both of us forgetting how cold water is that comes out of a hose. I became drenched with water and Hannah was still not clean. By the time I ran her in to the bathtub she had concrete all over her feet, legs, hands, arms and even face. A quick bath and straight to bed followed. Andrew had smooshed his finger in something in the garage in the meantime. He was bleeding extremely with a finger that was gashed open. Jason quickly tended to him, got the bleeding to stop, bandaged him up and then went to grab Ethan who was crying after falling down on the porch. Whew! What a moment. Hannah fell asleep finally and Ethan was able to put his cute little handprints in. He spred his little finders out far and pushed down extra hard on the fingertips making it look like a tree frog's print. Andrew? Well, he was only able to put his right handprint in. Austin was the easy child to do. He was probably overwhelmed by all the 3 kids screaming and just watched the 3 ring circus. At least we have a great story of how we got the prints on Hannah's 1st birthday.

That is such a neat idea! As soon as I saw the picture of Ethan's handprints, I thought of a tree frog. How funny.
