The Fruit and Berry Patch

Every May we head up to Halls, TN to pick strawberries at The Fruit and Berry Patch. We just love hanging out as a family on their rocking chairs slurping some yummy fruit slushees. It's the only time that Andrew can get his favorite flavor, blackberry. It's really good. This year we ate our slushees first then tried their fried fruit pies. We got two apple pies that were yummy good. Then we headed out to see the goats and the new kids and chickens. This was Caleb's first introduction to our favorite farm. Mostly he sat in the car in his car seat but next year we'll put him to work picking strawberries with his brothers and sister. Wow! Just think of how many berries I'll be able to get one year when I'll have 12 hands picking berries! This year I plan on making some homemade strawberry ice cream and homemade strawberry preserves. This husband of mine is definately getting the city girl out of me. I'm slowly turning in to a country girl of some sorts. With our 4 pet chickens and now me making homemade strawberry preserves. Just watch out, one day I'll be in the garden in our backyard with 4 kids planting our own plants. And surprisingly, I'm looking forward to that day.

We've never gone to the fruit and berry patch there in Halls, and it's right down the street from us!! But, we do have our own berry patch in the backyard with 2 mulberry trees and wild strawberries galore. I need to start making jam with all these berries!
